Namibian Wilderness Wonders: A Journey from London to Windhoek and Beyond

Our Namibian adventure began with a transcontinental journey from London to Frankfurt and finally to the heart of Namibia, Windhoek. Awaiting us were family reunions, coastal charms, and two remarkable lodges – Omaruru Game Lodge, Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, and finally, Mount Etjo Safari Lodge.

Omaruru Game Lodge: Where Luxury Meets Wildlife

Our first stop was the Omaruru Game Lodge, a hidden gem located 245 km from Windhoek. This lodge is synonymous with comfort and seclusion, offering a uniquely designed wildlife reserve environment surrounded by lush palm and sycamore tree landscapes.

Wandering along the natural stone paths, we discovered the beauty of the lodge. The waterhole restaurant, strategically positioned, provided us with front-row seats to nature's grand spectacle. As we dined, animals gathered around the waterhole, creating magical moments of wonder and awe. The stone paths also led us to a serene swimming pool area, a tranquil oasis that became our haven for relaxation and rejuvenation reconnecting with family members who reside in Namibia.

The lodge's commitment to providing a relaxing atmosphere was evident in every detail. The stylishly furnished bungalows, the stone paths guiding us through nature, and the African cuisine served at the restaurant all contributed to an unforgettable stay.

Coastal Interlude: Walvis Bay and Swakopmund

After immersing ourselves in the wilderness wonders of Omaruru, we embarked on a coastal interlude. We reconnected with wider family and friends as we enjoyed the picturesque landscapes and delightful dining of Walvis Bay and Swakopmund. The coastal beauty of Namibia is magical as we relished views of the Atlantic Ocean on one side, complemented by the endless expanse of the oldest desert in the world, the Namib dunes, on the other.

Mount Etjo Safari Lodge: A Refuge for Wildlife and Tranquillity

The final leg of our Namibian journey led us to Mount Etjo Safari Lodge. This hidden gem is located in the heart of the Okonjati Game Reserve, established by renowned conservationist Jan Oelofse. The lodge holds a significant place in Namibia's history, from fossilised dinosaur tracks to the declaration of independence.

Our days at Mount Etjo were nothing short of extraordinary. The lodge is a sanctuary for thousands of animals and hundreds of bird species. We embarked on guided activities that immersed us in the stunning wilderness – from game drives through the reserve to a lion feed and birdwatching sessions that revealed the diversity of the avian world.

Luxury met nature in the lodge's accommodations, offering a perfect blend of comfort and proximity to the wild. Evenings were a culinary delight as the chefs pampered us with exquisite dishes, creating a symphony of flavours that mirrored the richness of Namibia's natural wonders. The sounds of nature gently crackled in the background beneath the vast expanse of a starry sky.
